S O M E T H I N G T R U E [2018 - Current ]

Something True Studios was originally founded in 2007
as Feral Frequency Recording Studio in Salt Lake City, Utah
by Jay William Henderson. It has had many iterations.

As a branch of our larger non-profit arts project -
our recording studio offered grants to artists and affordable recording opportunities for the community.

Feral Frequency closed in 2012 when we moved to Nashville.

We then opened in New York City, NY for a few years and moved again to our current home in Pittsburgh, PA.

Our first studio was located at Kilby Court, an all ages music venue in Salt Lake City, UT.

In 2010, we gut renovated and converted an old 1500 sq ft mixed use commercial building at 301 E 1700 S into a professional recording studio. We enlisted friends and community members to be a part of the build out. The studio was based around a Trident 80B and a Langevin AM4 console with a 24-track tape machine, and an emphasis on live recording.

Here are some photos from the old studio.
